Alain,

It shouldn't. But in fact it is. That's why I'm not participating in it and just
sitting & waiting for feature-voting possibility ...

I do believe in IntelliJ guys (aren't you?). And I'm sure we'll eventually see this
feature. But... I think it's not a kind of easy-to-implement features (it's presence
is more a future direction), and 'cause of this, the decision whether we'll get it or
not totally depends on their vision of IDEA future and their plans (e.g. just remember
that mysterious Valentin's words about C#). In contrast - sorting order is easy to
change, and that's why we get that kinds of changes almost immediately.
> Is nobody interested in higher level improvements?
Everyone is. The idea of smells detecting appeared more than half a year ago. And
I'm quite sure that IntelliJ'ers have that in their really-cool-features-list. But
their vision of the current development might be slightly different from ours. The
only way to influence their plans is feature voting. Without it we're just teasing
ourselves. (I don't think that letter-bombing will change something. Eugene once sad
that they are getting _so many_ emails a day...)
PS Is that only me who gets mails after a day or two it was actually sent to list?

Sincerely yours,
Mike Aizatsky

In fact, this is part of the bigger "project templates/w$z$rd" request.
This is quite frustrating to have to build each new project from scratch.
I won't pronounce the forbidden word "W*ZARD", but there is a place for something new
here.
Without going as far as JBuilder - though I wouldn't oppose to it -, IDEA could be
smarter when it comes to project creation.
Why does it offer to create 'src', but not 'classes', or 'javadoc'.
I would also add 'data' and 'test'.
I have created a zipped skeleton for Tomcat based projects, that I unzip on the IDEA
created structure when I need it.
Based on your type of project (EJB, applet, standalone), you would use the same trick
with another base.
We cross a lot of fine-tuning/polishing type of requests in this list, and I have
posted my share of it.
But I feel we should also talk about bigger changes.
