Well, since we're on the subject...

What do you prefer instead of tabs?  I'm not particularly thrilled with
them either, but I can't think of a better idea that is as frugal with
screen real estate.  A combo box would work, but it requires several
extra mouse motions.  A treeview on the left would work, but then it
would either be always visible and therefore in the way, or always
invisible and irritating to get at.  Maybe just a simple list on the
left side with small fonts would work?

I really do wish the color used for the background of the tabs would be
lightened up.  The choice of black text on a dark gray background
provides atrocious contrast and so is very difficult to read.
