Hi
If you are interested in a good book about poor women and children, you
might want to find "Women and Children Last". I will get back to you with
an author, or you might want to find it at amazon.com. I tutored in social
welfare policy class last semester and this was one of the books on the
list. It basically reveals how poor women and their children suffer in
society and how the policies that they must live by in today's world are
created by rich white men (congress) who don't give a second thought about
where their next meal is coming from. It was a very powerful book. You may
also want to check out "Savage Inequalities" as well as it also deals with
poor children.
