actually i became vegan as a result of my ideas of gender. i was a
sophmore in high school and my trust in everything was falling through. i
saw all the lies that were being perpetuated around me especially relating
to the role of women and the 'role' of the environment. anyway, by
understanding that my culture was abusive towards women and the
environment i began to understand that maybe diet was no exception. the
more i read, the more i grow, the more i learn, the more i know that i
should be vegan. for that i am proud. i think that we all have the means
to live without causing excessive suffering. not taking advantage of that
opportunity, in my opinion, is nothing short of selfish.

we abhor injustice and fight with all we've got against the evils of
racism and sexism while we objectify bodies, encourage the suffering of
the innocent, and allow our environment to be degraded with every bite of
factory farmed flesh we eat and every sip of cow's milk we drink.
we are lulled into a passive sleep when we refuse to connect the evils of
one injustice to those of another.
