I can't remember the site that I saw it on but it was a list of internet folk lore, pranks, etc. Will try and find it and will post it. Anyways, I agree about the antiperspirant thing. I feel that we put way too many chemicals in/near our bodies (etc.) We [referring to society in general; indeed, many of us aren't as involved in the consumer culture as others!] use cosmetics, bleach, fabric softener (notoriously evil!), etc. every day... Am always interested in nonharmful alternatives, both company wise, products, as well as do-it-yourself kinda stuff. So any info you all may have- please send my way!
Btw, I am new to the list (guess I shall introduce myself!) My name is Monika Penner. I am just finishing up my degree in sociology. I live in B.C. (Canada) and am strongly involved in feminist and animal rights causes (very active politically, etc.) I am currently doing a paper on the history of ecofeminism, so if anyone could send me some handy URLs or recommend any books, that would be lovely... I go to school full-time (yuck) but it is my last year! (Yippeeee!) I work part time for the Elizabeth Fry Society (in the Women's Sexual Assault Services)- I organize the sexual assault help line and response team, do presentations, etc. etc. I also do weekend and afterschool respite care for kids and teens with special needs (I work with 2 girls, mainly- have been with them a long time. One, since 1993, and the other, since about 1995. So we are really close!)
Anyways, I have a webpage all about me, and vegan feminism. So feel free to check it out- http://members.home.net/glen-penn
Well, enough about me. Look forward to chatting with you all! Looks like a good group!

I'm not sure about the prank part of breast cancer/antiperspirants. Back
in 1990 or '91, my gynocologist in Baltimore, Md., suspected such a link
due to patterns of breast cancer. On a common sense level, when you bathe
delicate tissues year after year in chemicals, it seems possible that it
would affect those tissues (and the lymph nodes, etc.) health. After all,
what about environmental estrogens, etc? And...consider the synergistic
effects that I'm guessing many labs don't study. For example, what if you
not only use antiperspirants a lot, but smoke? Or live under power lines?
Or? Or?
