Hello Monika & list,

I hadn't heard of the anti-perspirant/breat cancer link before but it
doesn't suprise me (even if it is a prank -- could be true anyway). Our
bodies today -- even if we do try to avoid it -- are exposed to so many
chemicals they previously weren't. Personally I was worried about
anti-perspirants myself because in using them you're basically applying
a solution of aluminium in water and/or alcohol (both very good a
penetrating skin) to a delicate skin surface that probably has lots of
blood vessels close to the surface. I'm far from being an expert but
that sounds just a little worrying to me -- an ideal way to get
aluminium into the bloodstream... I have switched to a scentless
zinc-based deodorant that doesn't work very well at all : I supplement
it with a bit of patchouli essential oil. But who knows, zinc and the
chemicals in concentrated patchouli oil could also be damaging to the
health. Personally I don't mind the smell of BO and one day hopefully
I'll have the courage to go without antiperspirant althogether :-)

P.S. I'd love to see your paper or any other reviews. The huge body of
eco-ish feminism literature is pretty daunting to me!!
