I think there is no single one that can be selected as "the best." Each of the alternatives has different tradeoffs, environmentally, economically, and socially. Wind is very clean, but unpredictable. Solar is also very clean, but still expensive. Hydrogen is very clean, but not ready to replace the internal combustion energy. Biofuels can handle only small operations like farms. I cannot imagine using any single alternative to fuel transportation and the production of electricity worldwide. From an strictly environmental perspective, my vote would be for solar, but there is no single alternative that is both best for the environment and economically feasible. Perhaps someone in this list knows better? Luis -- Luis T. Gutierrez, Ph.D., P.E. Solidarity & Sustainability Research Newsletter http://pelican-consulting.com/solisust.html [EMAIL PROTECTED]
