I've been using a Trimble Juno in the field and have been pleased with it. If you use ArcPad, you can record all of the data that you mentioned as you collect spatial data. The Juno is a small, accessible unit and, with real-time correction, I believe it can get within 2 m accuracy. You'll have to check the Trimble website (http://www.trimble.com/junost.shtml) for more detailed specs.

Good luck!

Quoting Fabrice De Clerck <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

Hi All,

A quick question, does anyone know of a good field GPS which permits
you to easily enter field data associated with a GPS point? For
example, we're interested in spatial arrangement of trees at the
pasture level and thus will be conducting a census of trees including
their GPS coordinates, DBH, crown measurements and a couple of other
measures. I was wondering if there was a machine with good positional
accuracy (<4 m) and that capability.

Any suggestions are helpful.

Cheers,
Fabrice
