Concrete walls have relatively low R values per inch so your tale was not
surprising.
That's one of the reasons I'm leaning towards insulated concrete forms. There
you have insulation on both sides of the poured concrete strenthened by rebar.
I too plan for a passive solar room that I will build upon a slab as part of
the house structure.
Anyone out there ever used these ICF's..which brand, company? Would you
recommend it again?
I'm wondering if you could use light weight concrete for the poured concrete
to increase the insulation value? Is such light weight concrete priced
similar to regular concrete, or hopefully less since there is more air in
it(BG).
What strenght/mix of concrete is recommended for such a residence?
