In this increasing connected world companies need to contact eachother to
exchange data with the right people. How many times have you seen on this
list "I've been assigned to work with XYZ company, does anybody have a
contact there?" Alot of supplier have supplier websites, but those are
different than the consumer websites and that's only if you know the name
of it.
I personally haven't had a great deal of trouble obtaining an edi contacts
name, unless it was purposely withheld from me for other reasons, but
remember alot of companies edi is handled by third parties. Which is
almost like two divorce lawyers talking to eachother without the principals
involvement.

This discussion has been going on for a while and I've yet to see an
explanation of why a directory of contacts is necessary. Why don't
companies maintain their EDI contact information on accessible websites?
At the least I would think an email or phone number could be provided so
that trading partners could get the details on ISA IDs, VANs, etc.
Maybe I am off base here, but I think working with trading partners is my
job. If my company is going to have requirements for doing business, then
I need to help suppliers become compliant. Otherwise it's just a big waste
of everyone's time.
