Not all trading partners utilize AS2 communications as their primary communication protocol. As a result, in order to communicate with all of one's partners using an in-house model and without using an EDI VAN, a vendor may be required to manage communication links with multiple customers. This can mean to some organizations (depending on the number of trading partners) the need for a full time technical person on staff in order to manage the software and systems. Depending on the core business of the organization, this is often an undesirable prospect due to the overhead costs such technical individuals command.

We've gotten some requirements from them and would like to know if anyone can give me some advice. One of their requirements is that we either need to have a third party do both our EDI tranlation and communication to walmart. Or we could do it in-house.Where we translate and purchase AS2 edi-int communication software and we do this all in house. Ideally management would like to control the translation and drop the EDI off to someone like geis or ecom systems. According to Walmart edi this is not allowed. Is there anyone who is doing this without a problem. If you are, were you grandfathered, that is because we are a new supplier to walmart we have a different requirement.
