I realize this isn't about the VAN service. There was a question as to why Intertrade from QRS....
As far as the catalog, as mentioned earlier we personally use Inovis and SPS Commerce to host our UPC's and that's because some of our trading partner refuse to use anyone other than Inovis and some who use SPS Commerce exclusively. There are some trading partners that use GXS but will also use Inovis. We won't use GXS because they are not stable in our opinion. All of the catalog hosting companies will gladly synchronize the catalog data with UCCNet/GS1 for us (of course for a fee). Emanio is offering a program that will allow us to synchronize the data ourselves. We're still researching that option. The reason we are using so many catalogs is purely driven by our valuable customer clientele and their needs (as quoted by our corporate customer service manual). If you have any questions or I may be of any assistance, please let me know. This is about having to sent UPCs to a company (Intertrade), for a single partner (Neiman Marcus). Do you send UPCs to a catalog? If yes, which one(s)? Would you be happy having to send Neiman's UPCs to another place? Remember, that UCCNet/GS1 is supposed to eliminate this whole duplication...
