I've found it best to just not help those people where I feel like I'm
being asked to help them scam somebody else.
If they word their request appropriately, I'm glad to help. If they
can't even be specific enough to ask about the mark's environment, they
don't deserve my time in replying. And the grammar has little to do
with it.

"I took a splinter out of my wife's finger once and have a job interview
for the neurosurgical team at a major hospital, tomorrow.
Can somebody tell me what kinds of operations brain surgeons do?"

This person *probably* isn't going to meet with an offer for employment,
but I'm not going to be the one that gives the answer for that
particular exam question that the administrator was looking for.

I'm seeing more and more "ex-consultants" going to work for companies
and BSing their way through the first month, or so. Then surviving on
bravado, intimidation and more BS yet not even learning the basic skills
for the job they were hired to do. They didn't need to learn those
skills as their foot is in the door and there are better positions to be
had. And on it goes, ad nauseum. Or maybe It's been going on for a
long time.

Thanks,
Martin Morrison

I don't think that this list is an appropriate place to get
general help about
        the basic concepts of EDI.
There is a _huge_ amount of stuff online, that can be found in
just a few
        minutes with Google.

        > What is so morally and ethically offensive about that?

You are addressing the wrong person. I either don't reply or
give out links to
where the answers can be found. I have _never_ told anyone that
their request
        was not reasonable.

I just tried to explain how these very general requests can
sometime be met
with anger - considering the job shortages and outsourcing
trends.
