Earl,
We are on the same wavelength here. I realize there is no set in stone
standard for this. BUT, I thought someone had published an example of what
X12 standard documents would look like in XML. I know the tags in XML are
going to vary and that didn't matter as I am looking for an example for our
guy to play with.
I guess it is time for a B12 shot. My memory isn't functioning as well
as
it used to.

There are no standard templates for X12 to XML business documents (as far as
I
have been able to find).
There _are_ tools that will convert X12 to/from XML, but no standard
business
documents. The XML people seemed to have moved up to a different level (BPL
Business Processes, ad nauseum) and skipped the fact that implementers need
concrete examples of existing documents (850, 856, etc).
RosettaNet, ebXML never addressed these needs, and that IMHO is what
prevented
XML from getting any acceptance in the X12 world.
It would have been simple for VICS to publish a recommended XML version of
their X12 specifications... sigh.
Even X12 could have created an algorithm to be used to convert their
existing
X12 specs to XML.
If I am wrong, please let me know. I have been looking for the same source
of
documents without success ;-(
I have a couple of links on my page http://www.spe-edi.com/links.html for
X12 /
XML converters - search for XML.
They have samples of converted documents, but they are incredibly different
from each other...
good luck...
