Let me tell you, I had the FTP/PGP thing setup with CommerceHub for over a year and the move to AS2 was well worth the price!
With GIS I had processes that would use the Command Line Adapter to run the PGP scripts to encrypt and decrypt the data. I had four separate processes to GET, decrypt, encrypt and PUT. I had these run every ten minutes and the processing overhead was tremendous! The latest GIS version supports these processes better, but not enough to warrant the continued use of FTP over AS2. (That's simply my own opinion.) Moving to AS2 removed the responsibility for me to pull the data, run four separate processes and deal with file issues, which we both seemed to have every once in a while. My process archiving size in GIS also dropped almost 90%! I would recommend AS2 over FTP any day! (That's a whole different thread, so let's not go there now, K!)
