As Bill mentioned, the 832 is used by many Department stores for UPC product
information.
Specs are available online at our links page ;-)

and follow EDI Resources...

Looking at my mappings, I have QRS (now Inovis), GPC (GE UPC), Federated,
DaytonHudson and Walgreens.

Since you are the client, it's probably easier to publish an 832 IG and ask the
manufacturers to use that when sending to you.

For those that are manufacturing and selling, it's a bit more complicated.

Most of the UPC Pools (whatever they call them now) accept 832 feeds (GXS,
Inovis, etc.)
If you are lucky, you can subscribe to a GS1 Pool and just download your stuff
from there. They have web interfaces for small volumes. That means the your
suppliers have to be plugged into the UPC sync process, etc..

If you have to put your UPC info into the GS1 data pools (for your clients),
you are looking at over $10.00 per year per product.

If you are _really_ unlucky, you may do business with Sysco. One of our
grocery clients was told that it would cost over $40,000 (yes, that's forty
thousand) to do EDI with them.
