Thought that I'd share the reply from Sterling......

Can the Sterling Mapper provide an output similar to the example Karen
provided?

Answer: Not if you are trying to compare to there 837 PDF spec. Our
segment names in the mapper might have N1:2 because a N1 segment already
exists. This is custom to our mapper so it would confuse an external
resource trying to take this and use as a mapping spec. Plus we list
groups in the printout as well. I would always update the PDF, some
tools exist such as EDIFECS to create EDI standards but they are a
competitor to us in the SCM space.

Answer: No, it does not build the specs. GIS can print out the mapping
report which is the definition of the actual map you are in. There are
other products that do this, for instance EDIFECS. Which we partner
with. http://www.edifecs.com/about-edifecs.jsp
