The comparison is incorrect. AS2 is a transmission method. You would still transfer traditional EDI data via AS2 instead of your VAN or maybe an old phone modem. AS2 is not data, it's a communication protocol (HTTPS). It's like comparing FTP to traditional EDI. In fact you can use AS2 to send your data to your VAN. AS2 is a very efficient, secure and fast transmission method. If you invest into AS2 software and infrastructure to support it you will most likely get a return on your investment if you have decent volume compared to your VAN costs. I do not think it's complicated, most of the AS2 software packages offered by Inovis, Nu Bridges and Sterling have been user-friendly in my experience. Either way, you can not compare AS2 to Traditional EDI, that would be like comparing FTP or a phone modem to EDI, AS2 is not data, it's the way you transmit the data.
