Darcy,

I have to agree with Leah here and actually unless your service is targeting a
very small volume EDI shop or business, I don't know any larger business where
that the level of monitoring would be sufficient.

Also while your cost appears to be inexpensive, the cost of not meeting a
customer's expectation either by receiving an 850 late or even worse, finding
out an 856 was not sent out 24 hours later, would spell significant
ramifications much greater than the $115 being charged for the domestic service
(can you say CHARGEBACKS).

Even in a small business, doing very small volume, it's not a very sound
business practice to only check on either 850's or 856's once a day...

What happens if the 856 was supposed to go out at 8a, yet it doesn't get
checked
until 3, 4, 6p??  By that time, in many cases, especially with LTL or small
parcel carriers, the actual delivery may already be at the customer's site.
And
if the cause of the non-transmission was an error, fixing it may cause an even
further delay, even if your service takes care of that.  But I doubt seriously
you are going to be able to get up to speed with multiple customers 856 format
AND understand your customer's business processes for just $50 or $115 a day.

And another factor here is the charge of $115/day domestic quickly adds up -
that's only $115/day but $805/week, $3,220/every four weeks and a whopping
$41,975 a year...   Even if the customer only wants monitoring during business
days, that's still $29,900.  I doubt any small business can seriously justify,
much less afford the that expense for only checking once a day on PO's and
856's
is going to work for any larger business.

You may want to got back and review your pricing..

Thanks,

Ken

Darcy,
Two questions.
1. Why would you think once a day would be enough? Errors which can shut down
production can happen 24X7X365 and no warning.
2. What do you do when you find an error? Fix it? Or is that extra?

Leah

Subject: [EDI-L] <SALES> EDI Monitoring Service

DCS' EDI monitoring service checks your Gentran or Integrator EDI and AS2
systems twice daily to ensure no errors stop production.

1. In the morning to ensure no customer Purchase Orders are delayed.

2. In the afternoon to ensure no Shipment Notices are delayed.

3. We also check other documents such as Invoices and AS2 and EDI network
connections.

There is no disruption of your EDI; it takes only about 0.5 hour daily. You
can focus upon other development tasks such as GS1 and e-purchasing to meet
your goals when we watch EDI for you.

The cost is economical too - $50 daily for offshore or $115 daily for
domestic.
