Hello Jake, Sounds like a poor management issue. I would recommend a change in staffing if they refuse to do their jobs efficiently. What do you do with the PDF's they 'fax' in? Print and send them to a clerk for entering into the order processing system? Ridiculous, inefficient and frankly these guys must be either dumb as rocks or just uneducated.
This is a prime reason for inefficiency in business systems and the continued loss of market share many companies face. There is no excuse for this. I'd start with the sales manager, can him/her and start a large scale 're-education' program and have HR ramp up for mass changes in the marketing team. You are building over a 7 day lag in order fulfillment. Insane. Just MHO. They are completely unwilling to click the button at the bottom of the form that says “EMAIL this form”. Sadly, most of them are involved in the college market. Hello Travis, Fax? Another decades old obsolete technology. People still display 'fax numbers' instead of email addresses. Insanity persists. Inefficient, obsolete, time consuming and waste of energy and paper (do they still use paper?). And companies wonder why they loose money and cut manpower instead of making the infrastructure more efficient. Another indicator of obsolete thinking in American businesses. What are they teaching in colleges these days? Use of stone knives and bear claws? Happy Friday! Re: [EDI-L] bisync over a IP based phone? Hello Travis, Why in the world would anyone attempt to even do this? 20 year old technology, while great at the time (I was there!) is so error-prone and unreliable, not to mention slower than spit running uphill. Might be fun for a school project to show the history of telecommunications and how it has changed but in the 'real world'? Not so much. Aren't they 4800 or 9600? If it's not going above like 14400, you *may* be able to find a solid ATA that will work for you. As long as the ATA is connected to the phone switch via a LAN, and nothing remote. Higher (read normal) baud rates with modems or faxes in general do not work over VoIP. The slower the better your chance of success. It would be really sad if you had to slow your bisync down to keep it working. ;) Travis- ----- Original Message ----- From: "tcstoodt" < [email protected] <mailto:timstoodt%40comcast.net> > To: [email protected] <mailto:EDI-L%40yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, May 18, 2012 8:10:15 AM Subject: [EDI-L] bisync over a IP based phone? Hi, Would an old bisync modem connection to a van still work if the phone line it was using was switched from a landline to an IP phone? Has anyone done this? We're converting to AS2 but our phone guys want to make this switch right away. Thanks. TS ------------------------------------ ...
