Hello Earl, Are faxes considered 'secure"? I thought HIPAA regulations mandated that all medical records transmitted electronically MUST be via EDI X12N specifications?
Part of the issue with Healthcare is the mix of obsolete technologies trying to integrate with more state-of-the-art current technologies. HIPAA regulations since 2000 have been largly ignored and until CMS decides to enforce something, they might as well forget about it. Still, my consultant mentality sees opportunity, unfortunately there is little money to pay, so I will continue to enjoy the Florida sunshine and my pool! <smile.! Happy Friday.... splish splash! Most medical clinics still use faxes to communicate. Some have switched to HL7, but until someone comes up with a simple and secure method to send emails, medical information will continue to be sent by fax. > ________________________________ > From: Skip Stein <[email protected]> > To: David Frenkel <[email protected]> > Cc: EDI-L EDI-L <[email protected]>; David Frenkel <[email protected]> > Sent: Friday, May 18, 2012 12:15 PM > Subject: Re: [EDI-L] bisync over a IP based phone? > > > > > > Hello David, > > I don't disagree, but I don't believe many corporations are still at this > primitive level.
