Not from an Mac. As long as VC++ and other Windows based editors are happy with 
UTF-8 there should not be an issue.

Only issue is a rev change to all the *.uni files. I’m just a little allergic 
to touching a lot of files, so that is why I pointed out another way to solve 
the problem. 

If the .gitattributes does not solve the problems people are having I guess 
converting to UTF-8 would be OK.
