summarized data from a recent conference on illiteracy:

limited English literacy skills was
                     presented including the following profile of those
with lower literacy skills:

                          25% who performed at the lowest level were
immigrants
                          nearly 2/3rds of those at the lowest level did
not complete high school
                          1/3 of those at the lowest level were over the
age of 65
