Hi,

I working to port apcupsd to Endian 2.2rc3 (apcupsd is a UPS
monitor that can trigger a controlled shutdown of Endian if
there is an extended power failure).

I had ported this successfully to earlier Endian versions
(see http://alumnus.caltech.edu/~igormt/endian/extras.html).

However, in 2.2rc3 I'm finding that the HIDDEV interface to
USB seems to be missing (or incomplete). When I check
/proc/bus/usb/devices, the UPSes that I plug in always come
up a Driver=none (instead of Driver=usbhid as previous Endians).

Also, looking in /sys/bus/usb/drivers/, hiddev is missing
(it is present in Endian 2.1.2).

Unfortunately, apcupsd relies on the hiddev interface. And
I freely admit that I'm not very knowledgeable about USB
under Linux.

Does anyone have any clues how to fix this, either by
getting hiddev working in 2.2rc3, or some other way to get
apcupsd to talk to the UPS. Perhaps an Endian person can
chime in regarding what changed in 2.2rc3 and why.

Thanks in advance,

Igor
