That would be my guess. I see EJB containers evolving in the same way that
compilers did: there used to be a point some time ago in hand-coding
certain parts of your application in assembly language, but it is no longer
realistic because
- compilers are way better than humans at keeping track of the evolution of
the processors and their instruction set
- even if a human might beat a compiler on specific portions of the
application, the compiler will always win overall
Replace "compilers" with "EJB containers", "processors" with "databases",
"instruction set" with "JDBC drivers", and I believe you will see the
analogy...
