>From reading some of the exchanges on this web site I hope it may be
a source that could help me continue to fill out my ancestral
chart. Other attempts have failed; even a trip to Elblag in 1976 to
look for records was not helpful. I was born in Elbing in 1926 and
immigrated to the U.S. in 1934. My parents were able to give me
information that went back only as far as my grandparents.

Paternal grandfather:: Wilhelm Klein, b. 1878 in Gross Wessonen, d.
1945 in Elbing. His father was Wilhelm Klein, b. 1839 in
Pepalswalde, d. 1918 location unknown. His mother was Francis, last
name and other details not available.

Paternal grandmother: Johanna Domnowski, b. 1877 in Heiligenbeil, d.
1956 in Lincoln Park, NJ, USA. Her father was Paul Domnowski, b.
1863 in Brounsberg, d. 1890 location unknown. Her mother was Louisa
Heil, b. 1867 in Heiligenbeil, d. 1932 location unknown.

Wilhelm and Johanna lived in Elbing most of their lives. He had a
carpentry shop. I lived with them for two years in their house on
Ilgner Strasse from 1932 to 1934 while my parents were trying to
establish themselves in the U.S. My parents brought Johanna to the
U.S. after the war.

Maternal grandfather: Richard Salkowski, b. 1871 in Schoenau, d.
1955 in Rifton, NY, USA. I have no information on his parents.

Maternal grandmother: Wilhelmina Wein, b. 1872 in Elbing, d. 1955
in Rifton, NY, U.S. Her father was Wilhelm Wein b. 1850, d. 1900
locations unknown. I have no information on her mother.

They also lived most of their lives in Elbing. Richard was in the
merchant marine during WWI and worked at Schiffhauer (?) as a file
maker. My parents brought both Richard and Wilhelmina to the U.S.
after the war

Any information that would help fill in the gaps in this record and
further extend the ancestry of the Klein, Domnowski, Salkowski, Heil
and Wein names would be greatly appreciated: Reinhold Richard
Wilhelm Klein, Bradenton, FL, U.S.A.
.
