you're a little older than I am but we share the same
birthplace. Your parents came to the US 3 years
before I was born.

Klein is probably tough to research as there are so
many but lets see if we can't at least straighten out
some of your places. I can not find a G. Wessonen are
you sure it's not Gro� Wessolowen? Or are we talking
Gro� Wesseln? If the former you're dealing with a
place in the Kreis Angerburg in Ostpreu�en. It was
part of the Lutheran parish of Engelstein and the
Catholic Parish of Goldap. That's where any records
would be kept. For 1878 there would also have been a
Standesamt entry at Guja.
Pepalswalde is also an unkown location which I don't
think exists. In other words, before you do any
research you have to know where to look. You need to
straighten these locations out.

That would have been Braunsberg which was a city and
county in the administrative district of K�nigsberg.

not find much information about them there.

Ok, here we have a real Elbinger. In the 1881
Adressbook of Elbing we find some Wein Families.
Maybe one of them is related.

6 family house)
Arbeiter Martin Wein, Predigerstr. 4 (Apprtmnt in 9
family house where Liedke also lived which may be one
of my relations)
Eigenth�merin Elisabeth Wein, kleiner Wunderberg 1
Tischler Franz Wein, Sternstr. 22
Checking back to 5 years earlier (1876) we also don't
find a Wilhelm Wein. An unnamed Arbeiter (laborer)
lives at klein Wunderberg 2 and another at Angerstr.
35b. Then we have Carl (owner) and Franz (a Zimmerman
or carpenter) at klein Wunderberg 1 (next door and
related?)
In 1872 there is only the Eigenth�mer Carl Wein at
kl. Wunderberg 1. Were the others his children?

That would have been Schichau where many Elbingers
worked (probably most). They came from all over East
Prussia to work there in the shipyards.
