Silly me. I always thought an SX-28 was a 1940s vintage single
conversion Hallicrafters receiver. I didn't know you could program one,
much less that they had a key...

I've just completed the Control Board and Front Panel for my new K2. It has
been immensely fun. But I'm worried the building fun will all come to an
end far too abruptly.
The good news is that I found a project to follow the K2. August QST
describes a Code Player. A small Pic based, CW player. You can download
your own text files to it and play them back, while driving to work when the
bands don't allow nary a signal to be heard on the HF bands.
My challenge is that the SX28 chip requires a $100 Key to write the program
to its EEPROM. The article suggested the author could supply these,
pre-programmed chips, but I have failed to get a response to my email
inquiries.
Does anyone have a SX28-Key that would be willing to program a chip for me?
(I'll supply the chip, code--from the ARRL site--and mailers.)
