I'm in process of slowly troubleshooting the same problem. One thing I've found is that there are intermittent ground resistance issues between the front panel grounds and rear panel grounds. I also had the problem of intermittent HI RFI indications and perhaps, because of the same problem, I have noise from other sources coupled to the line out and other rear panel audio jacks.
