Stan, glad to see you've got this nailed down now. I suppose, in a strange way, I now feel somewhat less stupid! I had exactly the same interpretive dilemma, made the same incorrect soldering decision, and naturally had the same result-- a deaf K2. I too, did not think of checking the schematic, which would, of course, have cleared things up instantly! And I have a Ph.D that was supposed to teach me critical readings of texts! At least I console myself that C6 was the one and only mistake I made in the whole K2 construction.
