I am at the point in the construction manual of doing the alignment and
calibration. I got the synthesizer to align with no problems. However, when it
came to aligning the LPA I cannot get the K3 to put out any RF. I have gone
thru the steps about four times, thinking I missed a software toggle somewhere.
OK, here we go:
On pg 49 of the OWNER's Manual.....Under the heading "WATTMETER"
I get to the 4th step: set the power to exactly 5.0 watts and that is where
things go sideways
next step: Hold CONFIG & locate the WMTR LP menu, which I can do.
6th step: Hold TUNE; adjust menu parameter (using VFO A) for a reading 5.0 W on
the external wattmeter.
I get no RF out of the K3 going to the WM-2 wattmeter. I swapped watt meters,
coaxial cables and dummy loads but no RF indication on the external wattmeter.
Not only that I get a " -- -- " on the display where the 14 MHz frequency
should be displayed when in the transmit mode. I do get the "TX" LED to light
but, once again, no RF.
Am I missing something?? I am in the CW mode, VOX is "ON",
I have tried pressing on to the TRANSMITTER GAIN calibration, but once again,
when I hold the TUNE control I get no RF output.
I have the KAT3 installed and "on" and in the "BYPASS" mode.....I can toggle
between ANT 1 and ANT 2, so something is working on the KAT3....
We leave for Tampa in the morning and I wanted to take the K3 with me and put
it on the air at my daughter's house. Anyone that can help me figure this out
PLEASE contact me OFF LIST.....I will repost any comments that provide a
solution on this list.
Thanks
