I had a Samsung SyncMaster 24" which was very susceptible to RFI on 80M. It would turn off whenever I transmitted. The antenna is an inverted Vee, less than 1 wavelength from the monitor. I was able to stop this problem by wrapping 6 turns of the AC power cable around a big clamp on ferrite. (Thank you Jim, K9YC, AGAIN for your work on this topic!)
Coincidentally, around the same time, the "rfi" mailing list hosted by eHam/contesting.com discussed a related issue. Search for "TV turns on-off when TX" at http://lists.contesting.com/pipermail/rfi/. My Samsung failed last month, and I chose to replace it with a Dell U2412M, which does not have the capacitive-touch switches. I left the common mode chokes in place, and it's been fine. FWIW. 73, Steve NN4X On Fri, Feb 10, 2012 at 7:23 PM, David Christ <[email protected]> wrote: > I have received enough replies to report the trend. With one > exception no problems were reported.
