My one-and only problem with my CM-500 is that after a couple of months, the 1/8" stereo plug on the headphones became intermittent on one side. I cut off the existing plug and tried to solder on a 1/4" stereo plug. It wasn't easy.
The problem is that each side of the cable contains two conductors (stereo, right?) The tricky part is that the signal sides are colored and, so far as I can tell, must be coated with some sort of insulating material to keep them from shorting to the bare common conductors. That coating takes some heavy-duty heating and tinning to get a solderable end on the wires. It can be done, and the headset is emphatically worth it, but it's harder than it looks at first. 73, Pete N4ZR The World Contest Station Database, updated daily at www.conteststations.com The Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com, spots at telnet.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 and arcluster.reversebeacon.net, port 7000 On 2/16/2012 2:28 PM, Oscar Staudt wrote: > The plug that comes on the microphone works just fine on the rear K3 plug. > Plug and play... > Oscar, WB5GCX > > On Thu, Feb 16, 2012 at 1:24 PM, Keith Hamilton<tu...@zoominternet.net>wrote: > >> Just one thing I wanted to check on.
