Sorry, gotta comment about my other hobby, HO model railroading. PICs and memory chips have invaded with startling effect. I had to replace a dual-in-line 8 -pin surface mount chip with wide spacing ( a DC motor driver) and had no problem. Other RR guys don't know how to spell DIP.
