Scott, Personally?...I tend to agree with you. In my situation, I set up portable under my Motorhome awning and I could use a 'Lockout' feature daily. I do realize this is not for the shall we say majority, however I felt your question was a valid one.
I use the current K3 partial lockout feature and if FW was available to allow as you suggest a 'Pin' type lockout of the full K-Line then I would use that feature. Again I understand that this would not be for everyone, but I see a use for the feature which of course should be 'optional'. I will not validate the other comments I have read by commenting further.
