Hi Bob,
This is a question that comes up from time-to-time and you will get a multitude
of answers!

Personally, I have a couple of the Astron Power Supplies RS-35M and think they
are fantastic. One of these is more than enough to run 24x7 and handle the
K3/100 with plenty to spare.

Just my .2 cents.

    I'm using a cheap switching PS . . . a SPS-400MA (12V, 40A):

I have NO affiliation with that web site nor the manufacturer of the PS! I also see those guys no longer have it "The item you are trying to view does not exist or was suspended by the site admin." I'm sure it can be found elsewhere on the Internet of from local re-sellers.

Anyhow, it replaced an Astron 1.5 years ago and is 1/4 the size or smaller. Been running 24/7 since I got it and it powers the entire shack. No birdies, although there is a knob to "move" them if they are there.

I took a chance on buying this (less than $200) and I'm very happy. 90-95% efficiency with switching supplies, very small and not expensive. I wasn't optimistic, but it chugs right along . . .

The Astron is now the backup.
