But why unplug the CM500 at all, if you have a different mic that plugs
into the front panel jack, just leave the CM500 plugged into the rear
and the K3 MIC SEL menu will switch from the front mic to the back mic,
no need for plugging and unplugging - unless you have multiple mics that
use the rear panel jacks.

Rather than reach back there all the time, I bought a 3.5 mm extension
cable at a local *Mart and leave it plugged in permanently with the
female end laying under the K3 in easy reach. When I use the headset I
plug it into the cable and then set the mic input to the rear panel
jack. For headphones I use the adapter that came with the CM-500 and
use the front panel headphone jack. Works like a charm.
