Hello,
The last few days have been rather cold for Oregon. We had a low temperature of 15 degrees Fahrenheit last night. Luckily the pumphouse is well insulated so it did not take much heat to keep the pipes from freezing. The house, on the other hand, grew rather chilly. This morning it was 41 degrees in this room and 50 near the wood stove. The stove simply was not able to heat the house against the leaks and the cold. So Sam and I have been getting the place warmer all day. Currently it is 60 back here and near the melting point of a cat beside the wood stove. He seems to like it though ;) Hopefully the worst has passed but the sky is clear again so what little insolation we had will dissipate into space before dawn. But I've got more dry wood stacked near Sam and the electricity is still working. Both of these may be needed once again to get us back to comfortable tomorrow. Good thing I grew used to this living in Wisconsin or I'd be in bad shape. We used to get the fire going and then go back to bed for an hour similar to what I did this morning. Enough about weather, I am sure there are others in Ontario, New York, or places colder than here who could tell their tales. Maybe tomorrow's nets will be a good place to vent about February, the longest month of the year!! We'll exchange weather reports as well as signal reports. Today I had good propagation into the southeast on 20 meters. I was listening and grabbing SSTV images while working on my computer. The sunspot number is also better than it has been for a while. At least it is not zero!
