Carel asked: What should the readout on the K2 displaying, If I had a carrier at 10.000 MHz and tune it in CW, USB and LSB to have it at 600 Hz tone (equal to my spot tone) ?
---------------------------- 10.000 MHz in each case, if everything was perfect, and you are not trying to get a 600 Hz beat (tone) with the carrier in USB or LSB. In USB or LSB you should hear nothing without modulation on an AM signal like WWV. The BFO is "zero beat" with the carrier in that case. The dial will read 10.000. In CW, normal or reverse, it should read 10.000 when you are tuned to produce a beat note equal to your sidetone - 600 Hz in your case. Of course, the K2 frequency display is seldom perfect for various reasons. A well aligned K2 might read 30 Hz or so off after a decent warm up. That error may shift a little bit as you change from CWn to CWr or USB to LSB because each of those modes involves changing the BFO frequency, and the dial accuracy depends upon how accurately the BFO frequency is set in each case.
