If you have a K2, don't forget the scanning feature. This is great for 10 meters or other quiet bands, in particular -- just let it scan for signals over the entire CW or SSB sub-band while you do other things around the shack/lab/office.

The K2's normal scanning mode mutes the receiver until an "interesting" signal pops up. It also has a "live" scanning mode, which keeps the receiver active so you can hear even very weak signals as the VFO automatically tunes across them.
