So was the issue the result of poor shielding and connectors of cables inside the trailer or actual antenna separation? That would do it.
And could the SSB station be pushing the power and ALC and compression thus likely causing distortion and splatter? That would do it. One of my major pet gripes for net control operators and contest operators is the fact they believe turning things up a bit with the thinking they will be heard a bit better When in fact they are making their signal more difficult to copy. If their station sounds good during SSB rag chew QSO's the the same settings should also be good for contests, Field Day, and when a net control. The mentality of turning things up a wee bit is just pure B. S.
