Fortunately, the definition of spam is not subjective. Spam is unsolicited
commercial email, whether you appreciate receiving it or not. Harvesting
names from Web sites, email lists, and other sources where you don't have
the permission of the recipient is illegal in the United States.

Subscribers to the Elecraft reflector who offer other commercial products
need to be careful not to harvest names from the list or from the Elecraft
Web site. Even though some may welcome the email, it is still spam by
definition and illegal under CAN-SPAM laws.

On the other hand, sending an offer directly to the reflector for an
Elecraft-related product is allowed and encouraged under my understanding of
the rules.

(Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV.)
