Personally, I think it's a fallacy that hams are any more fundamentally honorable than the average person.  We have enough evidence of cheating in contests to know that.  And if NK7Z (an active buyer/seller of ham gear) says he doesn't trust hams who use the parts swapping excuse to refuse returns, that's telling as well.

Hams aren't any worse than any other group of humans, but I think any of us should use the same care in a purchase from a ham that we would from anyone else.
