It's called component level repair!
Back in the thermionic emission days it was common. Today you need
magnification and sometimes a hot-air solder station but it can still be
done.

I had a KIO3 board go bad in the past and was lucky enough to be able

Would you try to replicate that board from that schematic without having
access to the artwork for the board?? No frigging way. It has to fit
into a fairly small space.
