Good Evening,

I started the Elecraft CW net on June 6th, 2002 to commemorate my uncle's action on that date in 1944.  He started early, loading into a plane for a short flight across the Channel.  Then jump out of a perfectly good aircraft, in the dark, while getting shot at. They were told to slow Panzer activity in their sector, with strict orders not to blow up any bridges.  They improvised.

Solar activities have been weaker this week.  The flux index is just over 100.  Twenty meters had less noise when I listened to it an hour ago.  There were many signals up and down the band.  I think it may work fairly well for us tomorrow.  I worked on my vertical antenna this week during a lull between showers.  I soldered more radials in place.  The tests on 20 and 40 meters showed improvements on twenty meters but pretty much the same as previous experience on forty.  Time to cut a new doublet and hang it as a V.  It would be nice to have four or five choices for antennas  memorized by the tuner.

A female Black headed Grosbeak landed on a branch a few feet outside this window.  She gave me time to look her up on the web. Obviously Grosbeak but not Rose Breasted, definitely speckled, yellow with a black head.  Photo matched the patient bird so I got an all time new one.  Strangely enough she may be the mate of the one I recorded last year.  Small world.
