My K2 has the same problem. I think the phone jack has issues because the
is the second time I have had to replace it in the last 6 months. Just sent
the email for a new one from Elecraft today.

It does sound as though your problem is caused by a failure of the switch
which is part of the headphone jack. If the switch has failed and stays
'open' you could still get audio out of the headphone jack, but when
removing the headphone plug the audio will not be switched through to
the
internal nor external speaker ciurcuits. The switch in both the original
and
in a replacement headphone jack in my K2 failed in this manner remaining
'open'.
