Brent,
After two headphone jacks failed in my K2, in about the same time span, I
quit and put a better quality jack on the rear panel. In retrospect I think
I should have replaced the external speaker jack by the new headphone jack
and used the existing loudspeaker circuit wiring instead of drilling a hole
and adding wiring.

My K2 has the same problem. I think the phone jack has issues because the
is the second time I have had to replace it in the last 6 months. Just
sent the email for a new one from Elecraft today.
