This seems to be a common problem - but I have never experienced it myself. Unfortunately the form factor for that headphone jack seems to only have one manufacturer. One can say 'bad design decision' or 'faulty parts' or anything else, but that does not solve the problem - it would appear to me that the jack manufacturer has a quality problem, and it won't go away until that is solved.
There is a work-around that would be 'acceptable' to me, but may not be for everyone - and that is to short across the contacts of the headphone jack with a jumper and leave the speaker active all the time - if you want to use the headphones without the speaker, just stick an empty 3.5 mm plug into the external speaker jack to silence the internal speaker. I know it is not nice, but it will work. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > My K2 has the same problem.
