Lyle, Amidst all the technical questions:
What all in the way of "filters" would you suggest would be necessary for a K3 set up primarily for DXing? As far as roofing filters are concerned, the next closest DXer to my qth is probably in the neighborhood of 100 miles, so no close by strong signals anyway.
That is hard to say. Are you a CW op? SSB op? Data modes guy?
The radio comes with a 2.7 kHz 5-pole filter. If you are into wider SSB
or AM, you'd want the 6 kHz filter.
I suggest a 400 Hz or 500 Hz CW filter if you are likely to get into a
situation where there are a LOT of really strong signals nearby, for
CW/Data mode work.
