You don't need any optional filters beyond the 2.7kHz supplied. The DSP provides filtering in 50-100Hz steps for all modes. You can select the optimum bandwidth filter easily. However, if you operate a lot in conditions where there is heavy QRM (strong nearby signals), then having a crystal roofing filter right at the operating bandwidth to pre-filter and protect the DSP is often an advantage. This is something you can decide later after using the K3 and determining what operating bandwidths you like and use a lot. Accordingly, almost all my operating is in heavy QRM, so I really appreciate the 200 or 250Hz for RTTY, 400 or 500Hz for CW and 1.8kHz for SSB. 73, Ed - W0YK _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [email protected] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
